Emiliana’s Journal: First Birthday!

Emiliana has now been one for an entire week!

Let me just start by saying that motherhood is incredible, everyday just gets better and better. Seeing Emiliana grow up is bitter sweet. I wish she could stay tiny forever and still continue to be where she is at now. I soak in each moment with her and am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be with her all day.

Now on to what everyone is really here for which is an update on how Emiliana is doing!

A couple things about Emiliana: She loves every dog she encounters, they are all her best friends. If it was up to her she would be outside with them all day. She loves to go outside whether it be to go on the swing, feed the chickens, or just walk around. She gives the best kisses! Every stuffed animal, dog, person is constantly getting kisses. She absolutely loves food, no one can eat anything in front of her without being prepared to share with her. Her recent obsession is carrying a stuffed animal with her where ever she goes. She loves to copy sounds and movements.

As of right now I don’t think we have a solid word we can claim as her first word. She makes a lot of sounds that sound like words but I don’t think she knows what they mean. She is learning her signs and can communicate very well when she wants something. She is a pro at Patty Cake, Wheels On The Bus, and Pon Pon Pon.

I love asking her where something is and she will try her hardest to find it, this includes her daddy. One of her favorite things to do is walk and talk on the phone. She will take my phone, put it up to her ear, and then wander around the house babbling about who knows what!

She has such a sweet, funny and adventurous personality, there is no stopping her. Emiliana is always on the move from the moment she wakes up to the moment she goes to sleep. She is up and down all day and has so much energy, I don’t know how she does it. She has a sensitive side as well, when her feelings are hurt she makes the saddest face and walks away whimpering, completely heartbreaking.  She is so incredibly smart, understands so much, and is just such a wonder. She truly is the funniest, sweetest, most loving princess in all the land and is a constant source of pride, joy and love for Dylan and I.

Friday, the 21st, Emiliana’s birthday!

I spent the day making her birthday cake for her. Her cousins came over and played with her and we went to dinner at Olive Garden. They sang her happy birthday and she was so happy. It was calm celebration as we prepared for the next day.

Saturday, the 22nd, party time!

Emiliana’s first birthday party was a small event with family and a few friends. Everything was unicorn themed and she looked adorable in her birthday outfit and shoes! She woke up from her nap to a house full of people and balloons. She played outside, jumped on the trampoline, and chased after all the big kids. We then moved on to the cake. Spent a good amount of time there while we gave her a chance to smash it for the photo. She opened her presents and hit her piñata. Overall a huge success, although we got rained out when we tried to do the piñata outside so we had to improvise and do it in the garage. Oh and she did cry a little at seeing her unicorn piñata be destroyed! After it was all done she started giving kisses to it and it broke my heart throwing it away. Lesson learned next birthday we need 1 smashing piñata and a mini one for keeping!

It was such an incredible weekend getting to celebrate our little girl! It still blows my mind that a year has passed and just how much Emiliana has grown. I look at her newborn pictures and I am amazed not only at how tiny she was but at how far she’s come along since then. Being Emiliana’s mother is such a privilege and I am so excited to continue seeing her grow up!
