This weekend I have binged watched so many Christmas movies to help get into the Christmas cheer! When it is sunny, I feel this need to go outside and do stuff and during Christmas, I just want to stay inside, enjoy the warmth and bright Christmas tree, cookies, hot chocolate, and all the cheery stuff. Living here in Vegas though, people typically think it is sunny and hot all the time…WRONG! Vegas actually gets pretty cold, it even snowed a bit last year! Lately, we’ve had quite a bit of rain, so I just pretended it was snow! Like I said, this weekend we binge watched a lot of Christmas movies, and honestly, there is something special about Christmas and Christmas movies that bring a happy, cheerful, grateful, and many other happy emotions out of people. So, I wanted to give you a list of Christmas movies, some well-known and popular ones, and others that you have to see by chance. Some of these are on Netflix so I will let you know which ones. Let’s get started!

1. Daddy’s Home (1 & 2): Daddy’s Home is hilarious! Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg make a great comedy duo! There are constant laughs and focuses on acceptance and change within the family. Daddy’s Home 2 is much funnier in my opinion but you can’t watch it without watching the first and the first is hilarious as well!
2. The Princess Switch (Netflix): Take the concept of The Parent Trap, you know, twins, except they aren’t related, they are just twins. One is a straight and narrow baker, the other is a duchess who happens to cross paths. The Duchess wants to live a normal life and trade places for a couple days, which gives both of them the opportunity to adapt to a lifestyle they aren’t used to, but use their skills in a way that they were meant to. This has Vanessa Hudgens in it which was my main reason for watching it. It was cute and funny but it won’t be a classic.
3. Christmas Wedding Planner (Netflix): This was a fun movie and entertaining. The concept is that a girl is planning her cousins’ wedding, however, she is convinced her fiance is cheating on her, so she hires a P.I to find out, which is where all the twist and turns are.
4. Elf: This is a classic, or so Dylan says. Contrary to popular opinion, I’m not the biggest fan of Elf. However, If there is one thing I do like about it, it is the amount of Christmas cheer the movie gives! If you haven’t seen it, watch it and let me know if you think it is a classic or not. “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!”

5. A Christmas Story: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” This really is a classic, not just the movie, but when the movie actually came out. It is a bit older and the main character is actually in Elf as an elf but he is older! This is a good wholesome movie about Christmas, gifts, keeping warm, standing up for yourself, and just a great family movie!

6. How the Grinch Stole Christmas: Any version of this movie is good! Well, I haven’t seen the new one that just came out recently (11/18), but I hope it is good! Other than the movie just being so good, I love the concept of how Christmas isn’t about presents, but being together with those you love, forgiving, and helping others overcome their…well hate.

7. The Star (Netflix): This movie was adorable! I am pretty sure it is a kids movie, but it was funny, entertaining, and explains Jesus birth! I love animated movies (even kid ones) and both Dylan and I absolutely enjoyed this!

8. Home Alone (1 & 2): As a kid, I wanted my parents to leave me at home alone just to see if someone would rob the house and see how smart I was and if I could fend them off. And even though I am pretty sure the movie was meant for adults, Home Alone made all of us kids laugh because we were kids. I am pretty sure almost all of you have seen Home Alone, but if you need a good laugh, and to be reminded yet again family is the most important thing (and not to forget your children at home when you go on vacation) watch this!
9. The Nightmare Before Christmas: Is this a Christmas or Halloween movie? And why did they skip over Thanksgiving? It is like the second Halloween is over Christmas is here, we still have Thanksgiving people! Anyway, I love this movie because, well, it covers the two best holidays! It is also a reminder that some people are meant for certain things and we all have certain talents. It is good to learn new ones, but we all have our place and we shouldn’t change ourselves to be something we aren’t!
10. Four Christmases: This is a fun movie because it has Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. Essentially they have to visit 4 families on Christmas, which you can imagine is difficult, apart from that they only have so many hours in a day and they have to deal with each family’s personality while avoiding certain things. Again, Christmas, family, love, all central themes but a fun and funny and somewhat exhausting movie, haha!

These are just some of the Christmas movies we watched (we haven’t even watched all of these) and we still have a list to get to! It really is the season to be jolly as well as forgive, love, come together and enjoy family, friends, and remember the birth of our Savior! Remember, not everyone is religious, or they may be agnostic, I have some friends that fall in both categories, remember to respect others beliefs and enjoy this season together!
