Did you know that October 5th is National Do Something Nice Day? It’s a day dedicated to encouraging us to do something nice for people around us, whether that be a loved one or a stranger. In today’s world it is so simple to focus on ourselves and forget to show kindness to others. Today is here to remind us that doing good deeds can make the world a better place.
A couple days ago I woke up and listed to my favorite podcast, shared a little more about it in my last post, the quote was by Mary Roach and it just felt fitting for getting me in the right mindset for Do Something Nice Day. Give it a listen!
National Do Something Nice Day Activities
- Volunteer: Find a local organization in your community that you can help out in. It can be something that you are skilled in or something as simple as serving food at a soup kitchen.
- Help someone on out: Whether it be a stranger or a loved one find a way to do a good deed. it can be something like paying the bill for the person behind you, being a shoulder to cry on in a difficult time, or even holding the door open for someone. DO what ever you can to spread good.
- Donate: Donations are always appreciated by organizations and can help make a difference too. Find an organization that you support and would like to make a contribution to.
The best part of National Do Something Nice Day is it helps brighten others day which in turn brightens our own day and we are reminded of just how much of an impact one person, one act of kindness can have. We don’t have to move mountains or save burning buildings to make a difference, even the smallest of good deeds can have the power to change the world.
