PSA: today is National Plan for Vacation Day

Did you know that today, January 29th is National Plan for Vacation day? A day dedicated to encouraging people to plan a vacation. Sounds silly but it’s crazy just how needed it is. After doing some research I happened upon the U.S. Travel Association and this article they put out to give more information as to why planning a vacation is so important! The thing that stood out the most to me was that “last year more than 705 million vacation days went unused”, which absolutely blows my mind! It also makes sense that if you plan your vacations, you are more likely to actually go on one. As much as I like to pretend that I am a spontaneous person, I know that I wouldn’t go on an impromptu vacation out of stress and anxiety.

I didn’t know that National Plan for Vacation day was a thing, at least not until earlier today, and guess what I sat down and planned a vacation! Who knew having a day dedicated to planning a vacation was exactly what I needed to push me to plan the vacation I keep talking about but never actually put together. We all have a list of places that we want to go to, whether its close to home, a different state or even country! Take what is left of today to at least start the planning process so that you can be one step closer to having a planned vacation and having that much-needed getaway. Dylan and I have been saving and talking about a vacation, but tonight we plan it!

For those of you who want to add this to your calendars for next year, National Plan for Vacation day falls on the last Tuesday of January, but you don’t have to wait until then, planning does not need a specific day! Make your own day that works for you, just plan your vacation so that you will actually go on one and use those vacation days, don’t let them go to waste.

Are any of you planning on going on a vacation this year? Where to? Let me know in the comments! Dylan really wants to go to Japan but I don’t think that is happening quite yet (hahaha). Let me know in the comments!
